"GREAT CARELESSNESS."
TADV LEFT THE BLIND FP WHEN ABOUT TO RETIRE. Elizabeth Moss, residing at 4ri, Chelverton Road. Putney, was summoned by the police for failing to screen the light in her room on the night of December 2S last. Th? blind had not been drawn, and the strong incandescent light shone through the window. Defendant explained she was preparing to retire and forgot to pull down the blind. The light, she said, had not been burning long, and shewas. in fact, about to retire when the polite officer knocked at the front door. ".Judging from the time ladies took to prepare to retire," remarked the magistrate, 'the light must have been burning a leng while." Defendant was fined the magistrate believing there had been, great carelessness.
