Although the local authorities in the Franklin Electorate, including the I'ukekohe Borouhg Council, are taking no steps to celebrate the forthcoming anniversary cf Anzac Day, many towns and districts elsewhere in the Dominion are making arrangements for the day to be fittingly observed. The movement was mitiat d in Queensland, where it is intended to keep the day as one of solemnity, placing first its religious observance in a manner to be decided by each denomination. Jn Brisbane itself all the troops will be paraded to their respective churches at an early hour in the mormag. A public memorial dervice lor civilians will tie hel l at a later hour in the morning, and it is hoped that similar services will be held in each town throughout the State. In the evening public meetings will be held. I'llj children arc to be assembled 0:1 the last day before the Eatt.r holiday, and addressed upon the l;abject. Plans for the observance ol ths day have been drawn up by a Commemoration Committer, which strongly that there be no attempt whatever to turn Ai.sac Day into one of ;jbilac;un or rejoicing in any form.
