The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. report as follows : At Westfield fat stock market on Wednesday beef was penned in scarcely average numbers, and sold at improved rates under keen competition, best oxen selling in a few places to £2 4s per 1001b, others £1 18s Gd to £2 2s, cows and heifers £l 15s to £2 Is per 1001b, steers from £lO to £l7 15s, cows and heifers £0 5s to £ll 15s. Some of the averages were: F. Bregman, Waiuku, 16 steers, £l7 Is Od; W. Henry, Taupiii, 8 steers, £ls ss. Sheep were penned in less numbers than usual, and sold at advanced rates, best wethers selling to 31s, others £1 3s to £1 8s Od, best ewes to 30s, others £1 3s to £1 7s 9J, hoggets £1 Is to £1 4s 9d. Lambs were yarded in average numbers, aud sold well, best quality selling to £1 3s 9d, others 17s (id to £1 33. Calves were penned in small numbers, and sold at slightly improved prices. Runners made £5 10s to £B, ! heavy suckers £3 13s to £1 ss, medium £2 12s to £3 7s, light £l 10s to £2 10s, small and freshdropped 3s to £1 7s. Pigs were yarded in extra large numbers, and prices were again, under keen competition, higher. No choppers were yarded. Heavy baconers brought £1 to£l lis, medium baconers £3 13s to £3 18s, light baconers £2 19a to £3 16s, heavy porkers £2 17s to £3 7s, medium porkers £2 7s to £2 15s, light porkers £1 16s to £2 6s, weuners 9s to 18s, slips £1 3s to i!l lis. Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report : We held our monthly sale in the Pukekoho yards on Monday, the 27th, and had a large yarding all classes being represented. There was a good attendance aud a good demand throughout.
