FUN AT THE FRONT.

This amazing war has proved at least one thing. It has shown that "Tommy,'' no matter what the circumstances may be, lives up to his motto. "Always .Merry and Bright." If lie cannot In; entertained, then lie makes his own entertainment. We have just received a letter from Bombardier A. K. William-, says an English paper, in which lie tells us that "somewhere in France" the soldiers have been running a " Follies" show since .January last, which has proved a great success in entertaining tiled soldiers who "after mono tonous spells in the trenches, pray for bonie ftl'ght lemenihranee of homclife." This " l-'ollies" troop, a photograph of which our correspondent sends is comprosed of two ladies (the si.sters hovette). who delight the Tommies in a novel dancing act, one officer (Captain Jackson, of the Warwick;-), and nine men of the Field Artillery, L'nd Keaforths. and the London H He Brigade. all of whom have been through the great retirement from .Molls.

"The greater part of our leisure.'' i-ayri Bombardier Williams, "is devoted to' rchcai sals and keeping the show up to date. At the present time we are exhibiting a song .seena from the popular revue 'Push and (Jo," wlioie producer we had tlit honour of entertaining the other evening.

"During the early month* of the war two performances ot one hour and a ha t » durai on were given, hut .since opining up our new theatre (which, bv the way, has been made extremely comfortable). one performance la-ting two and a half hours is given. "Ollieer.s are charged two francs admission. other ranks half a franc, and the proceeds go to the betterment ot the show and also to providing Tommies with such things as may help to better the conditions m which •they exist.''
