A. & P. SOCIETY'S SHOW.
Next Friday and Saturday
"All roads should lead to I'ukekohe" tnis week-end lor the annual Shuw of the Franklin A. and P. Society. As usual, Saturday will re observed aa hVnple's Day with the customary galaxy of aide shows and other attractions, in addition to the horse events in the ring, whilst Friday, as a quiet day, will enable the interests agriculturist to rlosely inspect the stock on exhibition
That particularly on tlm occasion all possible sunport, especially in the wav of personal attendance at the Show, Bhould be given to the Society, is the request put forward by the Ex cutive. In order that tho Society should keep pac3 with the progress of the district and retain the reputation of the Pukekohe Show ae being one of the chief events of the kind held in the North Island in the autumn, the Executive has launched out in many ways, the acquisition of a new ground of commodious dimensions, adjacent to the railway station, especially marking the Society's onward career. At the same time this enterprise makes a great inroad on the Society's exchequer, and the public arc asked, one and all, to do their best to give the Executive a helping band by ensuring that the gate money of the 1916 Show shall surpass that of all previous gatherings The new Showground will be used for the firßt time on the coming occasion, and although proceedings will doly commence on Friday the actual ceremony of officially opening (he ground is to take place at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the presence of the Prime Minister, the Kight Hod. W. F. Massey. Mr Massey will be accompanied by Mrs ur Miss Massey, and one or other of the ladies mentioned will be asked to formally cut a suspended ribbon as a ceremonial token that the grounds have passed into the Society's possjssion
As previously mentioned, although the entries ot horses an- somewhat fewer than usual, due to so many owners being away at the wa-, all other departments are, if anything, in advance of the usaal average. In the cattle section, the Shorthorns and Jerseys are particularly strong and it is interesting to mention that the former will be in greater force than seen at any show in the Auckland Province for many years past The ground is already torward in order. Stables, pens, and all the necersary buildings have been erected, including a large new shed in which the Home Industries Section will be housed. The eloping nature of the eastern side of the property forms a natural gallery from which all the ring events can be observed
Judging will commence on Fiifay morning with Blood Stock. Hacks, Hunters, and Light Harness Horses, Draught Stock, Cattle, Sheep and Produce. A new feature of the Show on Saturday will be a parade ot stock at 1.30 p.m. in the rng, an icem that, owing to the restricted area of the Society's old quarters, could not be earned out in previous years
