It is the general wish cT the ratepayers in the Waika'o Uivcr Board's area at Maungatawhiii that during his visit to Merger early in Marc-, that the Minister ot' Marine, the Ucn Mr McNab, should inspect the Kaungatawhiri creek with a view oi recommending tLe Guvernmect to tssist the sjltle s in clearing the waterway of willows, and sandbanks. Through the bluckage cf the creek the low lands adjoining have bsen inundated and ttleiß agreed to take up debentures towards defraying tto expenditure necessary ior improvements. A eubsidy of £IOO was placed on tfce estimates last session towards the work, which was to fcavc been undertaken by the Waikato Kiver Board, but although reprcscD tat ions have been made to the Government for the sjbsiny mouey it has net come to hand, and the settlers arc in the same position as regards the creek as they v;cre before tie debentures were signed Several farmers have expressed their lntenlioo of installing separators next winter, a3 they aie of the belief that the ciearnerv will cloße at tli3 end of J una next. Mr S f I'rendergrast liaa alrea iy instalLd a machine on his farm Most of the roads in the Valley are standing the strain of the heavy traffic well, but a hill in front of Mr Tope's property on the main road has apparently escaped the notice of the Council's engineer. In the wet weather it becomes very slippery and inconvenience could be saved the settlers if it was graded. The suggested improvement would be very much welcomed. It has been suggested that the district's representative on the 1' rank lin County Council might iupaect the locality referred to with u view of taking action in the matter
