The announcement appears in our advertising columns that Messrs Bcatty and Marshall have acquired the old established butchery business of Messrs J Adams and Sons in f'ukekolie, the latter having sold out by reason ol two members of the firm, Messrs George Adams and Josaph Adams, junr, having departed for military service. Messrs HeattV and Marshall wi|l combine their present business with that ot Messrs Adams and will carry it on at the premises now occupied by Messrs Adams lroop:r Arthur Crainton, of the Auckland Mounted Hides, reported in a recent 1 iat to have been admitted to the hospital at Font de Koubbeb, was well known in the Waikato as a footballer. He was at one time captain of the Tuakau fifteen, and also a representative player for the Franklin county. He became interested in the Northern Union game, and was a member ot the Waikato team which made such an excellent showing when onponedto the New South Wales touring representatives at Hamilton in 1913. In his position at live-eighth* he was a ctever player and a stcotig runner with the ball. Trooper Cranston took an active part in athletic sports and was also recognised as a line horseman He was born and educated in Pukekohe, and prior lo enlisting was in business with his brother, Mr W H Cranston, at Matangi
