Graziers' and Their Stock.
[TO THE EDITOR. |
Sir, —lt seems to me that the writsr of the article under tte above heading which appeared in ynur issue of January 17lh overlooked one or two things. A farm of 1000 acres, worth £lO an acre, requires more than tbe owner to run it ae a rule, and a good stockman, with keep, means £2 10s a week, which wipes out tbe owner's wage of £2 5s 6d completely, leaving him with less than interest on his money Also a 200 screa man may require a and this would come to bare interest, on his capital On these lines one might juat as well invest the money and live quietly on the plain intereat, and have no responsibility. 1 sbaulJ like to hear other views on tbe situation as interpreted in that article.—l am, etc., FKED C S LAWSON.
