TUAKAU
A farewell in the torm of a concert and datice was tendered list week to Mr S Nichoil', who has enlisted. the function waa held under the auspices of the Tuakau Patriotic League, and was presided over by Mr Dynes Fulton, la presenting Mr Nicholls with a wristlet watch, and on behalf of the Ladies' Knitting Guild with a package of comforts, Mr Fulton eulogised the recipient for the step be had taken and expressed tbe hope that his example woulj be emulated by other yourg men of the district, who were qualified for enrolment. At the chairman's request three cheers were given for Mr Nicholls and his parents. Mr Nictnlls suitably returned thanks, particularly for tbe kindness that had been shown bim by the people of Tuakau during bis short stay in the district. Musical and elocutionary items were rendered by the following: l!ev Coatain, Messrs Kyder, Kevell, Deebl 3 , and Misses Hamilton and Patton, the acompaniments being played by Mrs Hunt?r. The proceedings were followed by an enjoyable dance, the mu?ic for which was suoplied by Misses Geraghty, Majall, Dickens, Hodgson and Mr Stevenson
