PUKEKOHES LOANS' POLL
Four Issues Rejected. Confidence in Fire Brigade. The poll of ratepayers on the live issues fur which the Fukekohe Borough Council sought to raise loans took place yesterday and as a result four of the schemes were rejected, the orlv loan securing sanction being that ut £3UO for Fire brigade purposes, which, however, is not a future liability, but is simply to replaca special expenditure on the Brigade's equipment that has already been paid lor out of general rates. The voting was marked by extreme apathy on the part ot the ratepayer?, comparatively few taking the trouble to express their viewß by m;ans of the ballot papers. The p-ll tor Water, £I6UO Drainage, and the tioads Loans was taken over the whole borough, the number of ratepayers on the roll being 600 and only 180 voting. ¥\>r the Fire Brigade Loan, taken over the old Town Board area, only 128 polled rut of 403 on the roll, whilst 67 alone voted out of a roll of 200 in respect of the £3500 Drainage Loan, for which a special area was define!
