Hie Scots' picnic to the Waikato Heads oa New Year's Day proved a most enjoyable outing. Mr Arthur Lapwood's roomy and comfortable launcb was hired tor the occasion, and at 6.30 a m a large company met at the riverside and boarded the boat. The passenger list included representatives of the Pokenu and Buckland districts. On the beach sports lor the children took place, and evaiy child was made the recipient of a present. Fishing and bathing were indulged in by the adults. So pleased were the whole company with the outing that thty decided to make it an annual affair. The passenger traffic at the Tuakau railway station during the holidays showed an advance of £3O over tbe figures tor the traffic twelve months ago. Further, tre local goods traffic has been steadily increasing for some time past. Right throughout the district stnoks of oats, wheat, etc., may be seen drying in the sun, and a good sample thsy are, as also are the potatoes. Pests, with the exception of rust, are fortunately absent thu season. TUAKAU POSTAL SERVICE.
