WHEN A COW CHEWS BONES i STICKS, &C.

The chewing of bones, etc , by a cow indicates a craving for some- j thing that the ordinary fodder does ' uot provide in sufficient quantities : and when you consider the many i additional taxes on a milking cow's constitution that never occur iu nature, it is easy to realise tlio iuiportance of adding additional nutri- . ment to the regular feed. Rememj ber that the ordinary calf takes only j about twenty pounds of milk daily from the parent cow, while from forty to sixty pounds of milk is taken daily from a good milker, or two or three times as much as nature intended the cow to produce. Furthermore, a cow's constitution has often to produce this milk when the unborn calf is also making a

big call for bone, muscle, and nerve producing nourishment. Thus you see, no okdixaiuly iel> dairy cow can stand this continual drain without becoming weakened ; it is then, when the vitality is low, that conditions are so favourable for the microbes of Tuberculosis, Abortion and Kedwater to make a start and tind the cow ready prey. Wild or run cattle seldom suffer from these complaints because there is uo unnatural tax imposed on their milkproducing organs. Now, bearing the foregoing facts in mind, you must realise the importance of adding to the cow's diet, such things as are necessary to strengthen the bovine constitution and provide the additional nourishment required for the unborn calf and the milk supply. A progressive firm of manufacturing chemitts have combined all the

necessary additional constituents of a cow's diet into an excellent preparation known as " Cow lie." This preparation is the concentrated food requirements that shoul 1 be added to eveiy milking cow's diet. It is easily given, you only have to open the box and place it where the cow can reach it. They will then help themselves. " Cow-lic " strengthens the cow's constitution and ensures perfect health, enabling her to produce large < i uautities of rich milk. " Cow-lic " also enables the milking period to be carried to its full termination. "Cowlic " prevents Tuberculosis, Abortion aud Kedwater by keeping the cow vigorously healthy. Healthier calves are born by cows which were given " Cow-lic." You guard against all loss by keeping a full supply for your cows. "Cow-lic" prices are: 1 lb packets la post, free ; 20lb. packets Bs, posted bs fid. Stockowners find the -Olb. packets the most economical. If unprocurable at your Storekeeper's, send direct to the Manufacturers, Messrs Chas. Katjen, Ltd, Agricultural and Manufacturing Chemists, Newmarket, Auckland. —Advt.
