Mercer Town Board and Mercer Ferry.
[TO THE EDITOR. 1 Sir,-1 notice in your report of the laat meeting ot the above Board a discission re the pant. Some enlightened citizens advocated r leaving the pant at the bottom of tho river, and backed thil up by asserting there was no need for it, and that it was hardly ever used when it was in commission. The Town Board aa constituted in place of the old out of date, sleepy Road Board waa to stand for progress, busineia methods and advancement; and, in fact, was to work wonders in our sleepy little town. Some muohs ago, to show their mettle, they circulated a petition asking for a bridge across the river, which on their representations, or perhaps I ; should say misrepresentations, waa * largely aigned by ratepayers in other districts. Now, Sir, the point J wish to stress is this: If there is not sufficient traffic to warrant a punt at present, why petition for a bridge? Ou several occasions the member for this riding on the Franklin County Council has made remarks re the pant, which show that in his opinion there is r.o need for it, or rather that it is seldom or ever used. Would aome resident please enlighten us on this matter re amount of traffic.—l am, etc., INTERESTED.
