Owing to the Uhnstmaß and New Year holidays the usual Monday issues of (ha "Pukekohe Times" will be suspended on Mondays December 27th and January 3rd. Advertisers are also requested to note that copy for advts. to appear in our issues of either Friday, December 24tb, or Friday, December 31st, must reach the head office not later than 4 p.m. tha previous day (Thursday) to allow of the papers ou the dates mentioned being despatched to all readers and districts early on th 9 Friday mornings.

Saturday and Monday next will he observed as public holidays in Pukekohe, as also Saturday and Monday of the following week. The Franklin County Council meets to-morrow (Tuesday) and will then adjourn until Thursday, February 3rd.

The erection of two additional iirebells in Pukekohe is to be proceeded with at once, the sites of the same being the junction of East Btreet and Nursing Home Road and opposite Mr S. Mill's residence in Queen Street.

In view of holiday requirements Messrs. J. T. Stembridge and Co. will hold an extra sale at their Pukekohe Auction Mart on Thursday next, in addition to the usual sale on Friday. Growers and purchasers are requested to note accordingly.

We are requested by the Postmaster of Pukekohe to state that all correspondence will be delivered over the counter between 7 and 8 p.m. on Friday evenings, 24th and 31st December, and that there will be no delivery by letter carrier on Christmas Day or New Year's Day.

The stretch of road in Pukekohe between Manukau Road and Morrow's Hill forming the approach to Mr Chas. McCormick's property is undergoing formation. At the Borough Council meeting last Wednesday Cr. Motion drew attention to the state of the road being dangerous for traffic and an injustice to Mr Mc Cormick and the necessary improvements were authorised without demur.

The Loyal Pukekohe Lodge, Manchester Unity of Oddfellows, at their quarterly meeting held recently elected the following Officers for the ensuing six months:—Bro. W. S. Baird, Grand Master; Bro. W. J. Bobinson, Noble Grand; Bro. F. Hard, Vice Grand; Bro. A. Neeby, Elective Secretary; Bros. Yaut and Banks, Bight and Left Supporters respectively of the Noble Grand and Bros. Murray and Ryan right and left supporters respectively of the Vice-Grand, and Bro. Eich. Chambers, Permanent Secty. As a compromise between the £l7o asked for from the Pukekohe Borough Council by the Franklin County Council in respect of roads being transferred from the Borough to the County and the £134 llie actual amount of rates on the same admitted by the Borough Council to be due to the County, the Borough Council last Wednesday decided to offer the County the sum of £25 over and above the recognised liability of £134. If this offer is accepted the revision to the borough boundaries will take effect forthwith instead of being delayed until March 31st next.

Boadley spoke at last week's Borough Council meeting: "Every gentleman at this table and every Councillor also." The Auckland Dairy Produce Committee has fixed the wholesale price of butter and eggs for the week ending December 25 as follows: Farmers' separator and dairy butter, lOd per lb; eggs, lid per doz. The Pukekohe Town Band are urgently in need of funds and respectfully ask all hon. members who have not paid their subscriptions to kindly do so without delay. The members are under considerable expense, besides giving their time, and unless they are supported it will be impossible for them to keep the Band going. Particulars of the various events that appear on the programme of the Mauku Athletic Club's Sports to be held at Patumahoe op New Year's Day will be found in our advertising columns and intending exhibitors are requested to note that entries close with the Hon. Sec, Mr H. C. Hay, on Wednesday next. The Pukekohe Borough Council at its meetiog last week unanimously agreed to adopt a motion as passed by the Petone Borough Council urging the Government to so amend the Pensions Act that pensions should be paid as a matter of right and without being subject to deductions -by reason of private income, etc. The public are reminded that a public meeting, convened by the Mayor of Pukekohe, is to be held this (Monday) evening in the Oddfellows' Hall for the puipose of furthering the local recruiting movement. The Defence authorities have wired this morning that 25 men are wanted to go into camp on Thursday next. Patterns of all the designs of fashions, etc, appearing in our supplement, week by week, can be obtained by sending stamps, value 7d, for every pattern required (coat, skirt, blouse, one-piece gown, etc) to Miss Ida Meller, Care of the Editor. The envelope should be marked "Patterns." At a meeting held in the Pukekohe Borough Council Chambers on Saturday evening arrangements were made to publicly farewell the Bev. F, B. Dobson prior to his forthcoming departure for Paeroa and a committee representative of the various institutions and organisations in the town was set up to organise the function, Mr H. Bockett being appointed treasurer and Mr James Boulston secretary. " Oh! Listen to the Band." Do this by attending the Band Concert at the Premier Hall, Pukekohe, next Wednesday .—Advt.
