COUNTY ENGINEER'S REPORT.

At the monthly meeting of the Franklin County Council, held on Tuesday, the County Engineer, Mr J. F. McArtbur, reported as follows : KE DEDICATION OFBUCKLANU ROAD. Mr F. Souster wrote asking wbat would be required to the way of formation before dedication would be accepted by the Council. After inspection I would suggest that engineering plans and specifications be submitted for the necessary construction work. FOOTPATH, PAIUMAHOE. At the last meeting of your Council 1 was instructed to furnish a report as to the probable cost of forming a footpath from Patumahoe Central along Woodhouse road past Kavanagbs. 1 would estimate the cost of constructing a suitable path with a light coat of metal chips at approximately £IOO. CROSSING AT ULENBKOOK. Mr J. Barton, of Glenbrook, made application for a cresting to be put io at bia entrance, atd stated that th 3 li'.e Koad Board promised to supply a wroo'en culvert and hoped that the Council could see its* way to do the work. As the crossing referred to is a private one, 1 would suggest that the usual course be adhered to, ' and that a Utter be written to Mr Bartcn pointing out the neceEary course to pursue. STO«E CRUSHING PLANT. Mr J. Pearce of Paoatoeto?, tick up his duties as engi le driver and superintendent on the 26th October. Stone has been crushed on the Waiuku-Drury road at McPhersan's bridge aod on the Ponga road at Platts'. The plant is now operating oa the Pukekohs East road and is working satisfactorily. LAND FUND REVENUE.

A further scheme for ths expenditure of secured "thuds" has been forwarded to the Land Board for approval When the money is available it will be expended on the different roads as stated in the approved scheme. GOVERNMENT GRANTS.

During the month Mr McLeod and I made an inspection of .the different works being carried out noder Government grants in the Waipipi aiding and the western portion of the Pukekobe riding. All claims have been made to the Public Works Department for moneys owing on works in progress and works completed to date. Plans are in the course of preparation for the following works aud will be forwarded to the Department a3 soon as possible:— Piatt's hill deviation; Lee's Gully to Pollok; Waiuku to Drury, via Karaka; Ueid's to Mangatangi. During the month the surface work throughout the County has been carried out satisfactorily. ' Other matters requiting attention and kft for repoit will be attended to at the earliest opportunity. The report was adopted.
