WAIAU PA.
Living a solitary and lonely existence, and without a known relative in the world, a resident of Waiau Fa, of the advanced age of 78 years, has for bis own protection been taken charge of by Ihe asylum authorities. Senile decay has rapidly developed of late, and naturally weak and decrepit the veteran, who was an Old »Age Pensioner, hss been inclined to wander. Last Friday the attention of the police was called to bis absence from his whare, as it was known that for a day and a night ha bad taken up bis location in the open air and was eating no food. Constable Thornell of Pukekohe, accordingly made a search for the old man and discovered hiafi hiding in some scrub country. After medical examination be was pronounced a tit subject for the Avondale asylum, and in that institution he was duly lodged on Saturday.
