, During the two days' sale coo* ducted at Papakura yesterday and on Monday by the New Zealand Loau and Mercantile Agency, a number of head of stock was offered on account of the Papakara and Ardmore Patriotic Committees. The beasts were gaily decorated with red, white and blue ribnons, and in many cases spirited bidding was ths order. Although all'the promised stock was not yarded the amount realised was £216. The thanks of the committee are doe to the popular auctioneer, Mr Hardwicke, whs used his best endeavours to entice substantial bidding, and also to the energetic collectors, Messrs H. Lluyd and H. Walters, Papakura; and Messrs Mullins and McCullougb, Ardmore. These gentlemen have worked, and are expected to continue to work, most energetically in the canvassing of the large district, and the success that has attended their efforts is proof of the thoroughness with which they set about their task. In the case of Mr Lloyd, be has also assisted witb the gratutuous use of his tine Renault car. The top price of the patriotic sale was realised by a cow donated by Mm Carpenter, which brought £l3. The Hon. Secretary of the Papakura National Reserve notifies intending new members that recruits will be enrolled on Thursday evening in the Public Hall, prior to the parade.
