ALFRISTON & BROOKBY.
Mrs Lowther gave the ninth Red Cross tea in tbe Alfriston Hall on Wednesday ot last week. The gathering was very successful, there being more' ladies present than at any previous meeting, £1 15b being given in one shilling donations. Several ladies, who were unable to attend, sent their shillings to help tbe good cause. Much work was brought in and many, gifts forwarded. A committee meeting was he'd during the afternoon, and it was decided that the bazaar be held in the third week in November, opening on a Friday. The proceeds will be devoted to the Auckland Wounded Soldiers' Fund. The stalls were allotted as follows:—Plain sewing stall—Mrs Moodv and Mrs Middleton. Fancy stall—Mrs Notton, Mrs Lowther and Miss B. Moore. Flower stall.—Mrs J. T. Bodle. Lolly and ice cream stall- i. cs *itzpatrick and Campbell. Vegetable and general produce—Misses Knight and M. Aicken. Tea rooms—Mrs Hansch and Mrs Collie, Misses Embling, Lowther and K. Moore. Competitions—Miss Plant and Mr Moody. Jumble stall—Mrß Chandler. Bran tub—Miss M. Plant. Flower girls—Misses 3. Embling, I. Campbell and J. Knigbt. It was also decided to hold a men's evening to endeavour 10 interest the men in the bazaar work.
