SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF.
Sir Frederick Treves, the eminent surgeon, has been publicly drawing attention to the danger of flies, and he made the remarkably interesting statement that during the South African war there were more casualties due to flies than to bullets. Sir Frederick is immensely enthusiastic about his work, and on one occasion he let his ardour run away with him. He once attended a certain distinguished patient who complained to him a good deal about his ailment. Sir Frederick examined him gravely, but all of a sudden he stopped in his examination and his face brightened
up. "My dear sir," he said, with a smile, "allow me to congratulate you. You are the lucky possessor of an illness which hitherto been thought to bo extinct!"
Cousin : "So the lawyers got nearTy all the estate. Did Ethel get anything?" George: "Oh, yes! She got one of the lawyers!" Proud Father: "I believe, my dear that the baby knows as much as I do." Mother (gazing at the infant): 'Yes, poor little fellow!"
