HAPPY WHEN COMPLAINING.
A landlord returning home after an absence of several weeks saw one of his tenants sitting on a stone wall, whistling merrily. The moment that he greeted him, however, the man scowled and began abusing him. "Why, what's the matter, Pat?" he at>hed. '

" I hear the cottage you have always wanted is vacant, and I'll let you have that at the same rent." "No. thanking your honou<\' 6aid Pat, "I couldn't think of it." "But why not? What is to hind r "No, your honour, was the repix "Oi'd ra'ther have me grievance." AND HE WAS! Just because a man is an officer in the Territorials it doesn't mean to say lie can ride a horse. U leant that was the case with Colonel Knut, of the Tuttleton Terriers. An inspection was to him a nightmare. So when the general commanding came along Colonel Knut sat his horse uneasily. Then the band played! At the first bang of the drum the colonel's horse startod two-stepping. With the fifes he tangoed. The colonel bung on grimly. Tbo Terriers got mightily excited. Would ho stick on or not? Anxious to see the fun, they pushed forward until the front rank looked like a footlall crowd. "Ease off, there!' yelled the sergeant angrily. " No, 'e ain't." retorted an enthusiastic watcher; " but 'e will be in a minite!"
