MANUREWA.

[Mr A. G. Yardley is the representative of the "Pukekube Times" for Manurewa district. Notices of forthcoming events, etc., shoould be sent him addressed "Pukckohc Times" Office, Papakuta.l The favourable finding of the Commission as to the formation of a Town Board for Manurewa has given great satisfaction in the district. As was mentioned in the Commissioner's report, a summary of which appear d in our last issue, the Town Board will come into existence as from March 31st next.

A cancelt was held by the members of the Manurewa Musical Society last week and was greeted by a large atttndance. The diogramme submitted was a good one, including as it'did several solos by Auckland's favourite contral'o, Mrs Jessie Bartlett, and the principal

local artists. Among the latter were Messrs A. G. Mabce, T. J. farm H. V. Burton, T. C. Seatoo, H. Kay, P. Bell, D. Phillips and K. Craig. The Sociey, which also rendered several concerted items, will visit Bombay shortly, when the conceit will be repeated. Later, it is anticipated that a concert will be given at Papakura in aid of the Patriotic Fund. It is with pleasure that the residents rottca that a sum of £7OO has been placed upon the Estimates for a new post office at Manurewa, and it is hoped that the erection of the building will be commenced without delay. A, number of extra hands have been put on to tbe railway works during the week, ard this is now moving apace. A new billiard room is now in course of being fitted up and will ba controlled by Mr Christy, of Waiuku. The room will contain two it Barton, McGill and Co.'a up-to-date tables. The refitting is being done bv Mr W. Mills, of Manurewa.
