THE ALLIES WILL WIN.

AMERICAN PREDICTION

"The Allies will be victorious. The task will be difficult and no one can predict how long the conflict will last, but the Allies will win." In these words Mr. Alexander Powell, special correspondent of the "New York World," describes the result of a complete tour of the Western battle front, in which he obtained much valuable information from officers and men. Mr. Powell describes the trenches on both sides as forts practica ,; / impregnable, the capture of which "must entail a sacrifice of life which none of the warring nations can afford." Like other independent American observers, ho pays a tribute to the excellent morale of the Allies and their confidence of final victory. He emphasizes the fact, not yet appreciated by the majority of Americans, that the sector of the battlefield held by the British "is the most difficult" on the entire line, and he gives reasons witn which most people on the British side are already familiar.
