The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co. report:— At Waiuku, on Saturday, there was a large yarding, which sold under steady competition. Best dairy cots sold at from £9 to £l3 10s; best dairy heifers, £8 to £ll 10s; other coss, £5 to £8; other heifers, £4 10s to £7; two-year-old steers, £6 17s 6d; yearling steers, £2 103 to £3 18s; heifers and cows, in fresh condition, £5 to £6 ,11s; yearling to two year heifers, £2 10s to £4 10s; calves, mixed £1 7s to £1 19s; bulls, £5 to £lO 10s. ' Beef at fully Westfit'ld rates.
At the Westfield yatds on Wednesday last beef was penned in less numbers than usual, and advanced in price s. Best quality to £2 7s per 1001b, others £2 3s to £2 sa; cows and heifers, £1 15s to £2 ss. Steers sold at from £ll 7s 6d to £l9 15s; cows and heifers, £G 5s to £l4 15s. A draft of 12 steers from Mr Jno Hatris, Utaua, averaged £lB 9s 9d. Calves were penned in usual numbers, and sold at improved prices. Kunners sold at from £7 7s to £9 12s 6d; heavy suckers, £3 17s to £5 17s, medium £2 8s to £3 16s, light £1 5s to £2; iniall and fresh dropped, 3a to £l. Sheep were penned in full numbers, and again sold under keen competition at advanced rates. Best wethers s Jd at from 35s to 39s 6d, others £1 10s to 34s 6J; shorn wethers, £1 33 to £1 6s 6d; ewes, in wool, for first quailty 31s to 37s 6d, others 27s to 30s 6d; hozgets, £1 23 to £1 9s 6.1; spring lambs, £1 5a to £1 Bs. Pigs were penned in usual numbers, and advanced in price. Choppers, £4 17s to £5 12s; heavy baconers, £4 5a to £4 13s, medium £3 8s to £4 4s, light £3 Is to £3 7s; heavy porkers, £2 19s to £3 18s; medium, £2 10s to £2 17s, light £1 18s to £2 8s; slips, £! 5s to £1 12s; weaners, 14s to £1 Is.
Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report:
We held a special sale of dairy cattle and bulls at Kunciman on Saturday, Srptember 18th, and had a large entry. Buyers were numerous and a Rood sale resulted. Best cows made from £lO to £l2 12a 6d, second quailtv £7 to £9, ethers £4 10a to £6 10s; well-bred young bulls £lO to 10s to £l7 17s, other bulls £G to £8 I'Js. Wee held our first cattle fair of the season at Kunciman on Tuesday. More than the advertised number cams forward, and the yards were completely filled. There was an extra large attendance of buyers, and we report a record sale. Cornpetition was keeu and almost the whole yarding was cleared at record prices. There was not a steer lift unsold. Forward conditioned three and a-half to iour-year-old steers made from £l2 5s fo £l3 7s Gd, fresh three to three and a-half year olfls, £lO 10s to £12., leas conditioned three year olds, £8 15s to £lO, well bred nice conditioned two to two and a half year steers, £7 53 to £8 10s; smaller two year olds £6 5s to £7, yearling to 18 months steers £4 to £5 sa; yearling to 18 mouths heifers, £3 to £4 sa; good calves, £1 18a to £2 13s, smaller calves £1 5j to £1 15s; empty cows, £4 10s t'j £7 10s, according to a«e and condition; fat cows, £7 to £9 Ids.
