TECHNICAL HIGH SCHOOL FOR PUKEKOHE.
Education Board's Adproval. In recommending the Educatioi Board to approach the Minister o Education with a view to the estab lishment of a Techiocal High Schoo at Pukekohe, th2 Actmg-Senio Inspector (Mr C. W. Gerrard) re marked, in the course of a lette: which was read at a meeting of th< Board, held on Wednesday last that Pukekohe was the natura centre for a large and important district, which was increasing ii population. Quite a number o: children travel from t':e district ii order to attend the Technica College or the Grammar Schools ir Auckland, and if a secondary or i Technical Hiph School were estab lished at Pukekohe he conaiderer that the roll number at the opening would be quite sixty pupils, am within a very short time woult rise to 100 pupils. Mr Geriart wa3 strongly ot opinion that i Technical High School, in preferene< to a secondary school, should b< established. The curriculum of a Technical High School included botl technical and vocational courses, it might cover ail the work done in a secondary school, with th< adiiition of tecbnitsl education. The Board decided to approact the Pukekohe School Committee foi the names of forty pruspectivi pupils, with a view to submitting i definite request to the Mioißter.
