POKENO.
POKENO ROAD BOARD. MONTHLY MEETING. At the usual monthly meeting of the Pokeno Road Board, held on Monday last, there were present: Messrs R. McKenzie, chairman, C. O'Leary, J. McCaw, and P. Wyman. ACCESS WANTED. Mr Walker waited on the Board with the object of arranging for a settlement in connection with the propusal that had been previously before the Board to open up a road running trom the South road towardß Mt. Wlliam, which was fenced off. Mr Wyman was one of the property owners, using the road for grazing purposes, and claimed that with three roads to choose from the applicant was well provided for. The road, he said, was now in grass and free from weeds, whereas the other roads had not been cleared. He bad obtained the Board's petmission to use it until such time as the Board wanted to open it. Mr Murrell, representing Mr Richards, was present and stated that the latter'a property ran the whole lentgli of the road, and be offered Mr Walker an agreement in writing whereby he could use Mr Richard's land to gain access to his property as required. Mr Walker accepted Mr Murrell's 'jtfer and the subject dropped. A CLOSED ROAD. Ii was decided to notify Mr Goodwin that he would have to open a road leading trom the main Pokeno road to the Maungatawhiri road, which was on his properly anc! had never been opened, failing which a swing gate would have to be erected to enable Mr Ramsay, the owner ol a back section, access to the main road. Mr McCaw pointed out that it would be necessary for a culvert to be laid down on the road. Mr McCaw was appointed to inspect the road and to report at the following monthly meeting of the Board.
RIM L) REPAIKS. M.ssrs McCaw and O'Leary were appointed to insccßt th? road leading frmi the Pukcao ValKy creamery to Mr Walker's property, and to report to the Board with a view of having it repaired. MISCELLANEOUS. Mr Wyman mentioned, and it was resolved to improva the approach to the creek in Kidd's lane, ard on the EUggistiou of Mr O'Leary it was agreed to have a block culvert thereon cleaned. Mr Goodwin has re-purchased Mr Narbey's Valley property of 660 acr.B at £6l per acre. Mr McKenzie, chairman or the Kcal Ruad Board, reported at Monday's meetiag that hs had received a communication from Mr R. F. Bollard, M.P , in answer to the petition requesting tha cstablistmint of a post office at Pokeno, stating that he bad forwarded the petition to the Premier, together with a recommendation that the r. quest should be acceded to. it i 9 definitely stated that the New Zealand Dairy Association's local creamery will be closed within a month from date and that the suppliers will resort to home separation. There is a strong feeling of disappointment amongst the local ratepayers of the Waikato River Board's district that the Board has not so far taken advantage of the permission granted them by petition two years ago to borrow £SOO for improvements to the Maungatawhiri creek. There was an expenditure of £6O on the creek last year, but it in no way covered the work necessary. It is considered that the mDney should be made available for use as eaily as possible, su that the work could be pushed ahead as soon as favourable weather comes to hand,
