THE FLAXMILHNG INDUSTRY. > conker. A meeting of flaxmill owners of the provincial district of Auckland Was held io Mr Ed. Hallett's otiice at Mercer, on Saturday, when the flaxmill labourers" demands were discussed and a line of action was agreed on. l'iierc were present: Messrs W. H. Deane, Mercer; P. Henry, Ohioewai; Frost (2), E. Lapwood and U. Geraghty, Tuakau; J. M. Clifford, Morrinsvill •; J. Vincent, Churchill; Carr, i'e Puke; and Dait, East Te Puke. Mr E. T. Frost presided, «nd Mr Wright, secretary ?f tbe Auckland Employers' Association, was also present by request. It was decided that the tlaxmillois of the provincial district of Auckland aticuldl becjinc n embers of the Employers' Association, and that Mr Clifford BhoulJ be a delegate to the Association. Messrs L'. T. Frost, Tubkbu, J. M. Clifford, Morrinsville, and J. R. Hyner, Te Puke, Uay of Plenty, were appointed assessors to conduct the busines*, together with the Employers' Association representative, at the Conciliation Court. It was pointed nut by the chairman t'rat only about one per cent of the flaxmill labourers bad joined the new Flaxmill Labourers' Union. Mr Wright intimate:! that a request had been made in the Manawatu district to have demands recognised fimilar to these which the new union were trying to havn, but tbc project failtd. The three ass s ors were further appointed to represent their districts on a committee appointed io deal, in conjunction with the Association, with various matters that would ii'isu in their sphere of business - Mr Wright was instructed to arrange for representatives on the committee from other districts.
