A telegram has been received from Mr W. Goodfellow. Managing Director of the Waikatu Co-operative Dairy Company, Limited, by tin Town Bjard, stating, in coan'ctijs with tha proposed butter factory for Tuakau, that he regretted being unable to

use the site suggested. • It is stiteJ that there 13 a likelihood of the factory b.iig erected at Pokeno.

A very pleasant Red Cross tea party, organised by the Tuakau Ladies' Guild, waß held in the I'ublic Hall on Friday last, when a large numbar of members attends! The tables and the hall were prettily decorated and afternoon tea was served. A splendid exhibition of work, done by the members during the mont'i, was on view. A collection wai taken up in aid of the Red Cross work, £1 16s yd being realisjd. fr.e amount was forwarded to the Ambulance Station, Auckland. The secretary of the Ladies Guild, Mra H. B. Free, reports donations ot waistcoats from Mrs McFarlane 3, Mr Grant 3, and Mr Goldsmith 1.

Amongst the latest list of killed at the Dardanelles appears the name of {sergeant George McLaren, late of this district. He Was for a period of twelve months connected with ths local railway Department, and on hia departure for camp was entertained by fellow workers. Another brother is also on actite service and fighting ij the same quarter. The deceased was of a quiet disposition and very popular. His mother resides at Goodwoud, Utago. lie ii the fourth local "boy" to have been killed in action, the others b.iutt Charlie Young, Erie Knight and Harry Burns, while Frank Feather died ot pneumonia in Egypt Another valuable dog has been added to the lengthy list of those poisoned ia ths district recently. Ihis victim is the well-known greyhound Lady A mans, owned by Mr W. Coombes, ot Pukekohe, and in charge of a Tuakau resident.
