CLEVEOON.

Yet again have Cleveaon triumphed over Papakura at sport. The Clevedon ladies' basket-ball team journeyed to Papakura a week ago and gained the easiest of victories over the Papakura team, the score at the end betas 16—2 in favour of the visitors. Papakura scored m the last minute of the gam?. The Clevedon ladhs played with magnificent dash, especially Miss &l. Dow and Miss Fawcett, who scored all the points. A return match is being arranged.

WHANGARATA.

FARMERS' UNION ME TING

The monthly meeting of the Whaugaruta branch of the Fanners' Union was held on Saturday evening last. Mr J. Fulton presiding. About fifteen members were present. The principal discussion was the formation of a strong financial Farmers' Indenting Association. The chairman, Messrs Cooney and Grimshaw were elected as a subcommittee to draft a letter to the Auckland Executive of the Farmers' Indenting Association urging the formation of a Limited Liability Company, the whole of the capital to be subscribed by the farmers, and the maximum number of shares to be allotted to one farmer to be ten.

It was reported that the Whangaiuta liabbit VigildL.ee Committee had been abandoned and that the Union had accepted the liability of that committee. Excellent results have been achieved by recent efforts and the farmers intend to lay poison for the rabbits twice in the year. The secretary, Mr Johus, who has sold his farm aui ij leaving the district, tendered his resignation which was received wiih regret. Mr F. Cooney was unanimously elected secretary in his place and it was recognised that the district is fortunate iu haviug a nmn with the ability of Mr 'Joouey to fill this position.
