See also page 1. SERGEANT G. C. LEIGHTON. Sergeant Gordon Cecil Leighton, reported tu have been wounded in the shoulder, was born at Onehunga, and ia twenty one years of age. lie was educated at the Buck land School. He joined the Uoy Scout movement and won the championship badge. He joined the Territorials as bugler about seven years ago, and worked his way up to sergeant. He was a good all-round athlete, and was several -times winner of long-distance rices. He played for the sanor football tearr at Pukekohe, and was one of four to win the silver cup for shootirg ' last year. Sergeant Ltighton was one of the first to enlist, and left ' with the first Expeditionary Force. He was at one time engaged iu blacksmithing in Buckland and Fuakai l , leaving that occupation for farming, and then joining the New Zealand Rifles, • where he was occupied when he enlisted. Ho was the second son of Mr W. Leighton, of Buckland.
