MERCER TOWN BOARD.
MONTHLY MEEIING. Ibe chairman, Mr G. Morgon, presided at the usual monthly meeting of the Mercer Town Board, held on the 10th inst. Other members present were : Messrs H. S. Valentine, S. Cartjr, C. Watkinson, M. Gallery and the clerk, Mr P. N. i King. FINANCE. The clerk, after beiDg appointed treasurer, reported that the Board had funds totalling £6O in hand. IMPROVING THE CEMETERY. It was resolved that the chairman should inspect the cemetery with a view of having it laid out and pot in order. DAY OF MEETING. The matter of fixing a regular day for holding the monthly meetings was discussed, and future meetings will be held on the second Tuesday in each month, at 7.30 p.m. HOLIDAY LEAVE. Mr Gallery applied for and was granted leave cf absence to- visit Australia. FIXING THE RATE. It was decided to make the General Rate ]Jd in tne £ on the capital value of all land in the Town Board area.
Excellent arrangements have been made for t>e conceit in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund, to be htld in the Public Hall on the 18th inst. Th: Huntly Minttrtl and Musical Society will render moat of the items, and a good evening's entertainment is promised. Being for such I a worthy object the entertainment is deserving of every support. Particulars of the times of the Departure of boats for the Waikato river service to Glen Murray, Maramarua and Whangamarino will be found in the "All-British" Steamer Company's advt. in this - issue. Beats leave Mercer every Tueeday and Saturday for Glen Murray; evtry Monday, Wednesday and Fri'ay for Maramarua; and eveiy Wednesday fur Wliangamarino.
