Particulars will be found in our advertising columns of an important sale of properties, situated at Ararimu, Kotorua, Awhitu and Pukekohe to be carried out by Messrs J. T. The Auckland Dairy Produce Committee has iixed the sale price for butter and eggs for the week ending August 21st as follows: —Factory butter, Is 6 r J; farmers, separator and dairy butter, Is; eggs, lOd per dozen.
A "Firßt Aid" Class in connection with the Pukekohe branch of the St. John Airbulance Association is to be established in Pukekohe and ladies demisg to attend the Bame are invited to communicate before Friday next with Mrs Ivan Motion.
The High Commissioner has cabkd to the Government that the only New Zealander who is reported to be a prisoner of war in Turkey is No. 12,705, Private Thomas Hayeß Burgess, Auckland Infantry Battalion,, whose relatives reside at Pukekohe. In addition to his wounds he has had appendicitis, but is progressing favourably. Be is in the Gulhane Hospital at Stamboul.
"The War" is the subject of an address to be given tfaii (Monday) evening in the Premier Hall, Pukekohe, under the auspices of the Pukekohe Patriotic Leagu;, by the Rev. Jasper Calder. The gathering has been arranged in aid of the Wounded Soldiers' Fund, for which a silver collection will be taken up.
The concert arranged by the Cherniavsky Brothers, postponed frcm the previous Wednesday evening, was duly carriad out on Friday in the Premier Hall, Pukekohe. All the itemß presented were most skilfully rendered, and were highly appreciated by ths large audience present.
On Friday last Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons submitted to public auction at their sale rooms in Auckland Messrs Walsh Bros.' farm at Pukekohe, known as "Woodlawn," consisting of 159 acres in grass, a 6-roomed house, and outbuildings. The property was disposed of, the price paid being £3l per acre.
In the Auckland Supreme Court on Saturday, John Joseph Seronff, of Pokeno, brought an action for divorce against Agnes Virginia Serong, Henry Smith being joined as co-respondent. Mr Hall Skelton appeared tor the petitioner. The evidence was to the effect that the parties were married in Auckland in 1913, the respondent being at the time a widow. They lived at Auckland for a time, and then went to Pokeno. The respondent left her husband at Pokeno, and had since lived in Auckland with the corespondent. A decree nisi was granted.
Some very desirable properties Bituate in the Papakura district are being be ottered for sale by private treaty by the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company on behalf of Mr Godwyn Smith, who by reason of bis recent iluess has decided to curtail his holdings. Failing private sale the properties will be submitted to auction on October 29th next. Pariculars of the lands, revised Bince our last issue, will be found in our advertising columns. One of the lots ottered consists of a farm at Paparata Valley ot 285 acrep, all in grass, with house, outbuildings, etc., and the owner is willing to divide the same into four sections, consisting of from 60 to 84 acres each, if desired by purchasers. Other sections are situate on Sea View Estate, etc. All are warranted good lands, adaptable either for dairying, sheep farming or fattening purposes. Easy terms can be arranged.
A eoirre and coucert in aid of the St. James" Sunday School is to be htld in the Masonic Hall, Pukekohe, on Thursday evening next. Particulars of a clearing Bale to be bcld on Thursday next by Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons at Mr H. 0. Mellsop's farm at Otaua will be found in an auction advt. in this issue. For the con venience of purchasers a conveyance will meet the arrival at Pukekohe ot the 7.14 a.m. train from Auckland.
Mr H. E. Pacey, Managing director of the New Zealand Dairy Association, met the suppliers of the Pukekohe district in tfie Odd fellows' Hall, Pukekohe, on Thursday last and matters relating 10 the last dairying year and the prospects for the season just starting were discussed, every satisfaction being expresed with the position of affairs. Similar gatherings at Puni on Thursday afternoon, at Buckland on Thursday evening, at Pokeno, Maungatawhiri Valley and Maramarua on Friday, and at Bombay on Saturday murning were also addressed by Mr Pacey.
The secretary of tue Auckland Centre of the St. John Ambulance Association has notified Mrs 1. A. Motion, hon. eec. of tbe Pukekohe branch, that all the cdndidates from Pukekohe who presented themselves recently for the nursing examination passed in the first class, having obtainid 80 per cent of the maximum point?, viz, the Misses Ruth Allan, Lucy Allan, Batty, Ivy Brown, Coster, Freeman, Johnston, Tozer, Shipherd, Goldaworthy, Hamlin, Preetm, and Hewlett, and Mrs 1. A. Motion. The candidates named were prepared for examination by Dr Wake, and the Auckland secretary, in his communication, states that the examiner, Dr Aickin, formed a very high opinion of the knowledge and capability ot the Pukekohe candidate?.
The annual general meeting of shareholders of the New Zealand Dairy Association is to be held on Tuesday of next week in Pukekohe. The business ot the agenda includes the appointment of two Directors— for the Lower Waikato and one for the Upper Waikato-the two retiring directors bci r g Mr K. H. McKenzie and Mr 1. C. Blackett, who are eligible tor re-election. The directors will also ask the meeting to authorise a payment of £250 to the widow of the latj Mr Sydney Morna in recognition of the deceased's long and faithful service to the Association, be at the time ot bis death having been Manager of the Pukekohe Factory. the directors have already made a grant to the widow of £loo—tbe limit of such gratuity as fixed to be made by the directors by the Articles of Association—and thsy recommended the additional payment of £250 s,i ai to make tbe total grant equivalent to one year's salary that would have been received by the late Mr Morris. Atlhough some of the fines imposed are still outstanding, the accounts f"r the Mock Court recently held in Pukekohe bave been made up to date, and a nett balance or the same of £44 lis has been paid over to the Town Clerk f.T the benefit of the Pukekohe Wounded Soldiers' Fund.
