STOCK SALES.
Messrs Alfred bucklinil and Sons report We held our usual monthly sale in the Waiuku yards on Saturday, August 7th, and bad a large yarding. There was a large attendance and practically everything sold at advanced rates. Dairy cows and heiferp made from £5 5s to £ll 7s 6d, accoridng to quality; fat cows and heifers, £7 to £l2 2s 6d; empty cows, £4 53 to £6 15s; yearling to 18-months steers, £3 3s to £4 10s; small two year steers, £5 Is; yearling to 18-motitha heiters, £2 2s to £3 15s; good calves £1 17s to £2 ss, others £1 3s to £1 15s; weaner pigs, 16s to £1 3s; slips, £ll Us. On Thursday, August stb, we held a clearance sale, at Puni, of Mr J. W. Wakelin's live and dead stock. There was a large attendance of buyers, and satisfactory prices ruled throughout. Cows realised £8 to £ls, heifers £7 10b to £ll 10s, waggon, £lB, cart £6 10s, poultry 2s lid to 3s 3d.
On Wednesday, at our weekly Westtield fat Btock market), our entry of beef totalled 320 head, comprising 224 steers, 81 cowa and heifers and 15 bulls. There was a strong demand throughout, values being very firm at last week's quotations. Choice ox sold to £2 6a per 1001b, prime quality £2 3s to £2 ss, ordinary beef, £1 15s to £2, cow and heifer beef £1 14s to £2 3s; steers ranged in price from £9 to £l9 2a 16d, cowa and heifers £5 to £l4 sa. A few choice heifers from Mr G. E. Waller, Karaka, averaged £l2. There was a full supply of fat and young calves, which sold freely at improved prices. Sheep came forward in full numbers, and met with a steady sale. Prime mutton was better worth, other clasaes maintained list week's figures. Pigs came forward in ■large numbers, the greater proportion being forward stores. Excepting slips, prices were easier all round.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report:— On Thursday last we held a clearing sale on account of Mr John Andrews, Fapakura. There was a good attendance, and satisfactory prices were realised. Best dairy cows sold to £7 12s 6d; colt, £l6 10b; pony, £5; 'disc harrow, £5; plough, £2;, pigi, £1 16a 6d. At Papakura on Saturday we held a clearance sale on account of Messrs Walters Bros. Buyers were in attendance in large numbers, and we report a very successful sale. Best dairy cows sold to £l3 10s, others £7 to £10; bull £S. The whole herd averaged £9 15s. Saddle, £2 ss; cans, to £1 Is; sows, £4 10s to £4 158; boar, £2 ss; flips, £1 6s, milk cooler, £1 12s 6d.
