An Auckland business man, who has just completed a trip to all parts of the Lower Waikato, writes in congratulatory terms as to the large anil widespread circulation of this paper. Visiting farms right on the outskirts of Waiuku, in the Unewhero district, at Clevedon, at Ararimu, acd in fact all around, he says he everywhere came across the "I'ukekohe and Waiuku Times',' and it was evident that the various households all eagerly looked for its arrival.
A comrade of Private H. I*. Hopkins, of the Otago Battalion, who was killed at Uallipoli on May Bth, writing to Mr W. P. Hopkins, of Pukekohe, supplies particulars of the coble manner in wnich his brother (Private Hopkins) nut his death. He states: "Perhaps when 1 have told you how he died your grief will be lessened and you will be proud in the knowledge that he did honour to the country that gave him birth. It happened during some of the fiercest lighting that our men have been in. The bullets were Hying ail round the trench he and some others occupied, yet he was doing his b?st to chesr up those around him. He was one of the most popular fellows in his Company. His sunny nature won all hearts. Nothing daunted him. Then cane the order ta charge and it was in that charge that he received his death wound, not far from the trench. When tl.osc that were lett returned, they found him dying, lie died like a hero and a gentleman. What better epitaph could a man have? He died as any man should be willing to do--in the service of his country."
