It was found necessary duritg the first of the recent floods to strengthen with double piling about 26 feet of No 1. groyne, in the centre, which bad become weakened The additional piling had made the groyne stronger than ever. Since the report had been written out, 24 chains of piling, totalling 222 piles, had been driven in the river-bed. Forty six and a-half chains of piling had been completed at the Elbow, which finished the piling at ttat spot. ACCOUNTS.
