PAPAKURA VALLEY ROAD BOARD.

Monthly Meeting. The tegular monthly meeting of the above Beard was ht Id on Monday last. Present: Messrs F. D. McLennau, chairman, J. J. Trimble, J. Briddock, U. Moody and the clerk, Mr D. A. Keid. RAILWAY CROSSING. Mr S. Evans, Papakura, wrote asking the Board to assist rim ii. getting a level crossing on the road 'that runs through Ms property from the Valley roEd to the Great South road. Be stated that the Railway Department was duplicating the lite and any improvements made would be permanent. The chairman intimated that he was in favour of helping Mr Evans io his request. Mr Briddock and Mr Moody thought likewise, and on the latter's proposal it was resolved that the chairman should cunfei with the chairman of the Papakura Town Board with a view of b.tb bodies assisting in the matter. ROAD IMPROVEMENT. Messrs S. Hawthorne and St. Paul waited on the Board in connection with the openiog up of St. Paul's and Fitzpatrick's road through to Takaoini road. Mr St. Paul stated that although the settlers interested in the extension were paying rates to the Board the only exit out of the road was at tba Clevedon end. It was decided that the Board should confer with the Wairoa Koad Board with a view of having the road opened up, and it was further decided to accept an offer made to the chairman by Mr Hsnscb, of a atrip of land gratis for the purpose of continuing the road from the Willow Camp road across the donor's property. METAL WANTED. Mr Moody asked for permission to arrange, when the weather was suitable, for the opening up of the face cf Hansen's quarry.—Left to Messrs Moody and Middleton Io act in the matter. KOAD WORKS. It was resolved to employ the services of an engineer to prepare specifications tor the forming and metalling of the Alfriston-Ardmore road, fur which a Government grant is available. KOAD GRANT KEQUIKED. It was decided to make application to the Government for a grant for repairs to the Clevedon-Brcokby road. MISCELLANEOUS. Mr Briddock was empowered to arrange for the removal of the slips on the Clevedon-Brookby road. Mr Trimbb was authorised to arrange for the completion ot the work at the bridge, near Mr Adams', where a wash-out had occurred, aid further to deal with pipes on the Redoubt road that were blocked. REPORTS. Mr Moody reported in connection with; the re-decking of Hansch's bridge that the timber was on the ground, and that the work would probably be completed in a week. The chairman reported that in company with Messrs Moody, Middletor, Trimble and Mustovich he had visited the ditch that drained Messrs Mustovich's and Moody's properties, the matter of which had been before the Board on a previous occasion, and on his suggestion it was decided that tbe Board should order 700 six-inch pipes, to be laid in the drain; Mr Mußtovich to cart them from tbe station to wherever required, and to clean the ditch and to lay the pipes to the satisfaction of the Board. The chairman added that Mr Moody had agreed tu purchase from the Board tbe four-inch pipes at present in tbe ditch at £6 per 1000, and that the Board had handed the ditch over to Messrs Mustovich and Moody. ACCOUNTS. Accounts totalling £3 4s 7d were passed for payment.
