WAIUKU NEWS.

ADVANCE, WAIUKU!

That the improvements suggested for the advannement of Waiaku are needful nobody will deny, although may be a few ot the pessimistic people will incline to the view that the time la inopportune for the borrowing of money. But it mut b». remembered that, notwithtandiog the war, business must as far as possible continue as usual, and that if the money can be obtained, and full valua secured for that money, it ia good business to go ahead with that work. The town has long passed the stage of a country village; it is the centre ana market town for one of the richest and must p<o?perous districts in New Zealand, and its residents will be well advised to make improvements as required. Apparently the Town Boaid has no intention of rushing into a reckless or spendthrift policy; it believes it is wise to "make baste slowly," and having that object in view the proposal is to have done first of all the most pressing works, taking the o hers :in order uf their importacce. The wisdom of this line of action nobody will deny, and if the ratepayers sarction the loau proposals and due economy is observed, residents will have every reason to be satisfied, and will find the expenditure tully justified.
