STOCK SALES.
The N.Z. Loan and Mercantile Association Coy. report as follows: At Pukekohe on Monday we had a special dairy sale, when more than the advertised number came forward and good prices were realised. Best dairy cows sold at from £8 to £ll 10s ; others, £5 to £7 ss; best ditto heifers, £6 15s to £9 10s; others, £4 to £5 15s (178 sold). At Pukekohe on Tuesday we had an average yarding, and prices for all store stock greatly improved on late sales. There were no grown cattle yarded. Two to three-year steers, £5 7s 6d to £7 2s; yearling to 18 months steers £3 5s to £4 17 ; 18-month heifers, £2 14s to £3 15a; steer calves, £2 7s to £3 4s ; heifer calves, £1 53 to £2 2s; small calves, mixed sexes, £1 3s to £1 17s; bulls £3 15a to £8 ; empty cows, £2 15s to £4 19s; beef at Westfield rates. At Westfield on Wednesday beef came forward in average numbers and sold at last week's rates First quality oxen sold up to £2 3s per 100 lb, others £1 19s to £2 2s; cows and heifers £1 lis to £1 19s; steers sold at from £9 12s 6d to £l6 17s 6d ; cows, £5 10s to £l2 17s 6d for some cows from Mr F. Lawson, Wairamarama. A draft of 24 steers. smaU, but well done, from Friedlander Bros., Surrey Farm, Pokeno, averaged £ls 13s 6d. Calves were yarded in larger numbers than usual and sold at late rates. Kunners sold at from £5 los to £7 ss; heavy suckers, £3 Ids to £5 Is; medium ditto, £2 12s to £3 15s; lighter ditto £1 14s to £2 10s ; light, £1 3s to £1 1 3s; small and fresh-dropped, 4s to £1 28. Sheep were again penned in small numbers and sold under keeu competition although prices were lower than the extremely high rat6S ruling last week. Best wethers sold at from £1 9s 9d to £1 12s 9d; others, £t 4a Oil to Ll 9s 3.1; ewes, heavy, Ll 2s to Ll 8s 9d; others, Ll to Ll Is 9d ; hoggett3, 17s 6d to Ll 3s 6d. Pigs wore peiried in snia! 1 numbers and again advanced in price. Large baconers, L 3 1 7s to L 4 8s; medium baconers, L 3 8s to L 3 15s: light baconers, L2 19s to Lo Os; he.vy porkerj, L2 15a to L2 19s; medium porkers, L2 8s to L2 Ms; light, Ll 14stoL2 6s; slips l'Js to Ll "s; weaners, 7s to 10s.
