At Pukekohe on Monday we held a special horse sale. There was a full yarding i»nd better prices were realised. Heavy draught horses sold at from £lB to £35, medium draughts £l7 to £2B 10s; light harness horses, £lO to £2l 10s; backs, £8 10s to £l7; cobs, £8 10s to £l4; ponies, £3 10s to £8 10s; weeds, £1 upwards. At Onewhero on Tuesday we held a combined clearing sale on account of Meatus G. W. Brooks and J. T. Booth. There was a large attendance, and good siles a;e reported. Dairy cows sold at from £5 to £9 10a; heifers, £4 to £8 10s; calves, 12s to £2 2s; farm hoises, £8 to £l9 6s; hacks, £lO to £l7 15*. Large quantity of sundries at late rat j B.
Messrs Alfred Buckla.id and Sons report:— ' Un Wednesday, June 23rd, at our Westfield weekly fat stock market we sold beef to the number of 416 head, comprising 3U5 steers, 101 cows and heifers, 10 Dulls, Heavv prime and choice cattle were inclined to be firmer, plain and ordinary beef was easier, choice quality sold at £1 19s, prime quality £1 15s to £1 18s, ordinary heef £1 6s to £1 12s, cows aud heifers £1 3s to £1 14j. Steers ranged in price £8 to £l7 7s 6J; cows and heifers, £4 10s to £lO ss. A truck of extra well-finished steers from Mi' Jas. Muir, Waerengs, averaged £l6 Jos; 20 from Mr Chas. Spencer, Aka Aka, Waiuku, averaged £ls i3s 6d; 16 from Messrs George and R. Bull, Utaua, averaged £l4 1 sj. The 69 fat and voung calves were insufficient for requirements, ;nd in consequence values were firmer. Kunners sold to £6 10s, heavy suckers to £4 6s, medium suckers £2 10s to £3 ss; lighter, £1 15s to £2 8s; light, £1 to £1 12b; Bmall and fresh-dropped, 3s tj 8». 61 eold. Although sheep were penned in less numbers than usual there was no improvement in prices. A few pens of extra good Bhecp met with a firm sale, but generally the demand was weak. Extra heavy piime wetherß, £1 8s 6d to £1 10s; heavy prime, £1 5s to £1 7s 9d; medium to heavy, £1 '2s 6d to £1 4i 9d: unfinished, 19s to £1 2s; beat ewes, £1 2s to £1 3s 9d; good, 18s to £1 Is; othere, 16s to 17s 6d. 1196 sold. Lambs wtre better worth, best heavy, 19s ta £1 2s 9d; good 16b to 18s 61; liuhter, 13s 6d to 15a 6d. 277 sold. Figs were penned in average numbers and advanced in values on late high prit-es Choppers realised up to £5 7s; no heavy baconers yarded; medium baconers, £3 to £3 7s; heavy porkers £2 12s to £2 18s; medium porkers, £2 6s to £2 9s; light, £ I 16s to £2 2s; slips, 17s to £1 3b; weanerß, lis to 16s; suckers, 8s to 10b; runts, Is to ss. 212 sold.
On Thursday, 17th, at Mereer, we held a clearance sale of Mr E. Hallett's live and dead stock. The cows brought from £4 10a to £10; calves, 3os; bull, £6 10b; mare and foal, £24 lOp. The implements realised satisfactory prices.
