" We nothing extenuate, nor set down auaht in malice

A Papakura correspondent, in a letter in another column of this issue, calls attention to Lhe shirking of duty of many cf the young men of the Papskura district, who have to far failed to respond to their country's call. Our correspondent's indictment can also be applied to many others brside thosa resident in Fapakura. "Men, men, m?n," is the dexand of Lord Kitchener, and although New Zealand has eo far been reeding its full quota it cannot be denied that various localities have not been adequately represented In the future the stay-at-homes ot the Dominion's rising manhood cf the "tit lor service" variety will assuredly hide their heads will shame when questioned why they took no part in the greatest war the world has ever knowD. They will find it difficult to answer why they were found lacking in seeking to take revenge for the casualties sustained by the loyal "beys" of New Zealand. Uport and plav is naturally inborn in the Colonial, but tha more serious side uf life should also hi recognised. The British Umpire is lighting lor its very existence. Is the White Feather tu be awarded to ttose cf blossoming manhood, or are they prepaid to set forth to do their part in lighting for their King and Country?
