Monthly Meeting.

Tha monthly meeting ul' the Waiuku Town Boatd was bell on Monday night last. Prespnt: Messts R. T. Reid, chairman, J. Walters, J. Gribble, H. 0. Mfllsop and A. M. Barriball. METAL SUPPLY.

Mr Matthew Powell wrote offering to nap atones in Dixon's quarry at 5s per yard, and deliver the same in the town district at 8s per yard. In the event of the Board having the metal stacked near Campbell's quarty, they would cart it at 2s per yard.—The matter wes discussed, . and on the motion tf Mr Melisop seconded by Mr Baniball, it was decided to accept the offer to nap and cart at Bs, which, with 3g tor spawling, would bring the tot"l cost per yard to the Board up to Us. The arrangement was considered ty the members to be very satisfactory.

BY-LAWS

A letter wes received from the Board's solicitor, Mr A. Hanna, stating that the term "Main street" io by-law 83, in reference to stock driving, would probably cause legal difficulties. There would be a difference of opinion as

to what were "main' str2tt3 The chairman staf.d that stockmen hal iolormed him that they would not micd if stock weie kept off Quten street, provided the back ruad was opened up. Mr Walters thought that stock should be alloned on the principal street, so long as due precautions were taken. He thought that at least the word "cattle" should be substituted for the word "stock," because livery stable owners often wanted to drive borEes through the main streets. Membeis considered that horses might damage the footpaths, and that in any,case there would be no need to enforce the law unless damage was done. Mr Walters moved, and Mr Mensup seconded, that stock be allowed to pasa through Queen street to Kitchener road, providing a stockman preceded the animals. Mr Barriball moved, and Mr Gribble seconded, tha followiog, amendment, That stock-driving be nut allowed between the junction ot Queen and, King streets, and of Queen street and Kitchener road.

The amendment was carried on ;be casting vote of the chairman, ICBAMBEK OF COMMERCE REQUESTS.

A letter was received from tbe Waiuku Chamber of Commerce, stating that the street waste-paper baskets needed emptying; that the Baleyards and creek adjacent were of an unsightly appearance, because of noxious need?, etc.; that some trees blocked part of the light from the lamp at tbe corner of Queen and Court street'. It was decided to have the matters in question attended to. WAIUKU WHARF. The Auckland Harbour Board wrote stating that they would take over the wharf on July Ist. POUNDKEEPER'S SALARY. The Franklin County Council notified the Board that ttny could not contribute to the salary cf a poundkeeper at Waiuku. A BLOCKED CULVERT. Mr Barriball voiced a complaint from the Daiiy Association to* the effect that a culvert across the road was partially blocked up, causing the storm water to back up on their property at the new factory. On the motion ot Mr Gribble, the chairman and Mr Barriball were deputed to inspect the culvert. MISCELLANEOUS. The chairman's action in securing 60 yards of metal for the street near the post office was endorsed. 'l'he clerk was instructed to make representations to the F—'Mn County Council wilh a vLv. of lecunng a financial settlement in connection with the Waiuku riding, and to have other minor matters attended to. FINANCE. Accounts amounting to £77 liis •were passed for payment.
