Quite a long-felt want is being overcome by the completion of a new hall, which is to be opened on Friday Jnne 4th, with a 'Jance. The proceeds are to be d i voted to the Hall Fund. Weather permitting, a gend attendance is expected frjm the surrounding districts. Some twne ago the Rev. S. Nixon collected a sum of money in order to purchase an organ for the Presbyfrian Churcn in Waiau. The instrument has now been installed. Quite a la r ge area has been sown down in grass this autumn. Many of the farmers are hoping to enlarge their milking herd this coming season. A large amount of ground is also being prepared for oats. Mr C. HcLarin has just finished a paddock of 56 acres of Algerian oats. Mr Litchfield is also very busy with bis team preparing for a similar purpose.

Mr Scblaepfer had five acres uf /4 the famous Western Wultha grass town down in Februaiy during one of the very dry months. It has been grazed twice by a berd of 20 cows and is still looking splendid. The cows have been on it as long as three weeks. Oar local creamery will close at the end of this month—somewhat earlier than previous years. But the creamery here has been able to receive milk as long as most creameries in surrounding districts, and this testifies that Waiau land is not so bad after all. Another of Mr George Learning's sons has enlisted. This makes the second from this family. Mr Norman Learning is well on bis way to England. Mr Bert McLarin and Mr Nicholson are expected to be called away at the end of this month to proceed to Trentham for training. They will carry with them our b2Bt wishes tor a safe return in the near future.
