MAUNGATAWHIRI VALLEY

Among the wounded in the Dardanelles operations are two late residents of this district, namelv, Private K. B. Steele and Private R. H. Gordon, tha former servirg with the Auckland Infantry Battalion and the latter with the We'lington. Mr Steele was recently the master in charge of the l"cal school. Mr Gordon, who is a son of Mr Thos. Gordon, of Pokeno Valley, comes of a fighting family, Mr Thos. Gordon havirg served lor quits a number of years in the New Zealand Constabulary, whilst his uncle, the late Captain Thos. Uordun, served In the Imperial forces in the Indian Mutiny and also in the Maori War. A younger eon of Mr Gordon has lately been accepted for rervice and will shortly enter into camp at Trentham.
