"Well, well," he scliioquised, "I will ask ycu for just one more number. Will anybody give me one?" There was a long pause. "Will anbyody give me one, I say' ? " he repeated, and a little girl ;vith a brandy-ball stain about her mounth held up a sticky toffee linger. "1 will fir," she lisped. "Well, what is it?" enquired the inspector. "77, and you can't meek that about."
