On Wednesday there wa3 a good gathering cf rjlajefs on the lawns, bid the whole topic cf conversation was centered on the final of the competition. The Club is to be congratulated on securing the services ot Mrs C. Munro as secretary. A mere enthusiastic and ardent cr:quet player it would be hard to find.

At Brcobky to-morrow, Miss S McKnight and Mr J. Alexander are - to met Miss C. Latimer and Mr I-'jtr'patrick in the final of the mxed doubles competition, which is being played under the auspies of lie Clevedon Tennis Association. Ihe match was to have taken place before, but was postponed on acccunt of bsci weather. The Clevedon Crcquet Club held a complimentary tournament to the gentlemen on their lawns yesterday (Thursdayi afternoon. Although the weather was rather unfavourable the attendance was large. The va'ious games were keenly contested and watched witn interest bythe noncombatants, showing that croqUet has become very popular amongßt the men as well as the ladies. The following is the result of the play: -First round:—Mr Bennett and Mrs Denton beat Mr and Mrs Y. Brown, Mr and Mrs A. Bell beat Mr. and Mrs J. Dow, Mr and Mrs W. Stephens beat Mr atd Mrs M?son, Mr and Mrs B. McCullough beat Mr Denton and Mra Bennett, Mr and Mrs P. Graham beat Mr and jyjra W. Duder, Mr and Mrs G. McCullough beat Mr A. Dow and Mrs G. Hawthorn, Mr and Mrs C. Munro beat Mr and Mrs H. Munro, Mr C. Atichison and Mrs McNicol beat Mr McKnight and Mrs Dow, Captain and Mrs Shaw beat Mr and Mra Walsh. Second round: Mr and Mrs W. Stephens beat Mr and Mrs ti. McCullough, Mr and Mra C. Munro beat Mr (\ Atchison and McNicol, Mr and Mrs McCullough beat Mr and Mrs P. Graham, Mr Bennett and Mrs Denton beat Mr and Mrs A. Bell.
