The Recent Show.

A meeting of the General Committee of the Franklin A. and P. Society was held on Monday ni;;ht in the Society's office on the Showground. Mr D. R. Hamilton (president) was in the chair, and others present were Messrs C. K. Lawrie, F. E. Simpson, J. H. Webb, J. Wylie. R. Bilkey, E. G. Phillips, J. Kenr.elly, ar.d the secretary, Mr J. M. Baxter.

A letter was received from the New Zealand Council of Agriculture inviting remits fcr the next conference of associated A. and F. Societies. —'ihe letter was left over for future consideration.

The president and Messrs Lawrie and Simpson (vice-presidents) were appointed as a • sub-committee to check and certify the prize list. Votes of thanks were pa?sed to private members who had assisted in the shew preparations, to Mr F. Brown, stationmaster, for his efficient management in the receipt and despatch of stock, and also to the District Traffic IV?ar,ager for the excellent train arrangements.

Appieciation of the services the Folice Department had rendered m connection, with the show was recorded on tne minutes.

it was decided ta ask Mr W. Bruce Fordyce to adjudicate on the essays written on the show by the children.

The show accounts were passed for payment, subject to the Finance Committee's approval. The secretary presented a rough balance sheet of the show in which it was estimated that a profit of £IOO would remain after all ex penses had been paid. The amount of prize money awarded was £603 7s.

A protest against the award in one of the cattle classes had been entered, but in the absence of the protesting party the matter dropped. Nine new members were etected.

The talc in sections of the old showground was discussed, but the subject was adjourned until next meeting.
