HARVEST FESTIVAL.

On Tuesday of last week the Salvation Army held their ar.nual Harvesst Festival demonstration in Pukekohe. The hall was tastefully decorated fuT the occasion, the vegetables and fruit being arranged in the form of a pyramid at the back of the platform, behind which were rcenes representing "Sowing and Reaping." Mr Fitchett "chaired" the programme, which was opened with a harvest hymn. The programme was as follows:-Solos sung by Mrs Curnow, Miss Hunter and Mr Fitchett; a duet by Misses Pilkicecon; and a trio by Misses Kimber and Perkins. A violin solo was given by Master Nelson Mee, and a cornet solo by Mr Davidson. Recitations were contributed by Mrs Huneyford, Misses Pearly Dix and Albertha Perkins, Master Herbert Vant and Lieutenant Heyward. Then followed a drill and gymnasium given by ten boys, all dressed in white, each boy doing his part very neatly and cleverly. The "chairman then called on Captain Christoffersen and Lieutenant Heyward to speak, and the Doxology was next sung. Mr Stembridge kindly acted as suctioneer and sold the fruit and vegetables, and by 10.30 p.m. eveiything was disposed of. The takings for the evening were £6 10s—the best returns yet secured by the Army in Pukekohe.
