Dull Recruit: Yes, sir. H.S.: Oh, and what can yer sing? D. R. : I ean sing "Annie .-aurie." H. S.: Oh, yer can, ean yer? And what else ean ver sins? I). R. I ean sing ''We have a Navy, a lighting Navy " H. S. (sarcastically): Yer we job, toofowa 'i...mdv lunpachein have: and a thundering good job, too. WAR INEVITABLE. "It's going to be war to the knife,'' deflated the surburban, who was feeding his chickens. "What now?" asked his friend. "Why, Binks sent me a box of axle grease, and advised me to use it on my lawn mower." "Well?" '•Well, T sent it back and told lu.:i to use it on his daughter's voice." COULDN'T HELP IT. The teacher was taking the class in geography and just turned Lack to look for°a town oa the map. While thus engaged there was a laugh from one of tin' hovs. "Who did that 0 " cried the angry teacher, turning round. ''lt was me, sir." said Johnny, "bat , T couldn't, help it." '• How do you mean you couldn't help it?' 1 said the teacher. t "Well, sir," said Johnny, "I laughed I up my sleeve, but I forgot there was a ' hole in my elbow!"
