Tha monthly sitting of the Papakura S.M. Couri was he i j on Monday last. A FORGETFUL MEMORY.
Mrs Jane l'atnn, boardinghousekeeper, ot Clevedon, claimed from Frank Page (Mr Hackett), labourer, Cievedon, the sum of £7 I : j3 6d for board ar.d lodgings and the value of an overcoat t.uivhased from plantjff, but for which he had not paid. Defendant disputed the claim, but seemed a little amiss as lo where he actualliy wa3 when alleged to have been boarding at plaintiff s bouse. After adjourning outside (he Police Court for a few minutes in company witti Mr Hcakett, the latter explained that defendant's memory was not up to the mark and that possibly he had forgotten that he had bean Icdging at the housp. Judgment wes given for plaintiff for £7 10s aud 26s cost?. MISCELLANEOUS. Mrs Paten also claimed £6 Ss from Philip Burgess, labourer, Clevedon, for board and lodging, and was awarded judgment by default for amount claimed and 8s cosls. 8 Messrs Frances and Loughlen, Dunedin, proceeded against Charles Barron, veterinary surgeon, Papakura, for the sum ot £3S Is for hire of horse acd harness, et<\ Judgment was given tor plaintiffs by default for amount clamed and £2 15s costs.
William Crawford, chemist, Papakura, claimed from V. C. Thompson, agent, f apakura, the sum of £1 14s for medicines, etc., purchased. Judgment was given for plaintiff for amount claimed by default.
T. R. Clow, windmill manufacturer, Papatoetoe, claimed £3 12s from Wm. Austin, farmer, Alfriston. Judgment was for plaintiff by default, for amount claimed ard los costs. Judgment was also given for the samp, plaintiff in a claim against W. Wedding, farmer, Alfriston, for £6 10s 5d ,and 15b costs, including £6 4s lid paid into court.
