Mr b. T. Ros&iter, who bad announced hia intention to be a candidate for Franklin Licensing District, as an independent, decided to withhold his ncminaion when he learned that two Waiuku members of the previous licensing committee had again been nominated. Mr Roasiter did not wish to cause an election, the expense of which would have been chargeable to the district local bodies, and he also considered the fact that Waiuku has a substantial proportion of representation on the committee by having two members out of live. The personnel of the Licensing Conmittee has therefore been arranged by the Trade and No-License representatives, which avoids an expense of anything up to £l5O on Franklin electoral district ratepayers.
