The matter of the control or | ownership of the Mercer quarry j again received attention from the Franklin County Council at their i meeting yesterday. It will be j remembered that at a recent con- I ference between the County Council and the Mercer Town Boaid, the j latter representatives claimed the ownership of the quarry, contending that ns tbey were the natural successors to the old Town Board the quarry reverted to them since it had been invested in the Road Board a? the "local governing] authority." On the other hand the contention of the County Council I was that when the Road Board merged into the County, such being prior to the establishment of the Town Board, all the Road Board's | property passed into the Council's possession. On behalf of the Mercer Town Board, Mr A. Hanna solicitor, wrote stating that the Board had j decided to refer the question of j adjustments between the Council and | the Board to the Governor with the j request that an enquiry should be j held for the purpose of an award j being made.
